Tell us how the company started, what got you into accounting, and what your journey was to get to where you are today.
I qualified as a chartered accountant in 2015 with CIMA after years working in different finance-related roles. This let me build up a wide range of knowledge whilst I was studying and completing my professional exams.
When it came to looking for a suitable role, I was just about to have my first child and didn’t want to embark on a busy full-time role that would have left her in childcare. My husband suggested that I work for myself to make sure I had the right work-life balance, and so I set up the business a few months before my daughter was born.
Fast forward to the present day and I’m now a busy mum of two children, Esmé (6) and Ethan (4), as well as running my successful business alongside the needs of my children. My kids are my greatest inspiration – they’re who I do the business for.
The business has grown steadily since its conception due to the personal service that we offer. I always enjoy speaking with clients, meeting them, and discussing our services. This isn’t just rewarding for me, it benefits the client as well, since they have a dedicated accountant they can talk to. They’re never just a number and can deal with someone who understands their business and requirements.
What do you enjoy most about your job? What? What gives you the most satisfaction?
I love meeting new clients, taking them on board, and addressing any issues they may have – it’s extremely rewarding. I also like the flexibility of working for myself and working alongside Dawn, our senior bookkeeper. The company is small enough that we can manage everything, but big enough that we are gaining clients.
What type of clients do you work with?
We work with a wide range of self-employed people, such as those in the building industry or professional services like business coaching. We can help anyone who wants to place their finances in expert hands and free up time for other uses.
What do you do to relax outside of work?
I like to go out for dinner, watch movies with my husband Jacques, and keep active by going to the gym.
